Sometimes we all need a guardian angel. And sometimes, once we are better, we try to help others. And when we can't, we try to get help for others the same way we got help ourselves. This is an interesting poem for me personally, because this is where I started exploring narrative styles within poetry. This poem doesn't follow conventional standards of any sort. The attempt was to keep free of all restrictions, and find my own style.
I wish you were hereNot because I want you by my side
That's a given
But because I want you to see
The plight of those around me
For I can feel, and empathise
But not work to make their day
Not because I need you
That's a given
But because they need you
Your passion, your love
They hunger for which
I want them to smile
The way you taught me to
I want you by my side
Not because you complete me
That's a given
But because they're incomplete too.
