Creative Poetry: The Emo in Everyone

One of my first poems. I guess I was going through a really dark phase in my life, because this person I cannot recognise. And yet, it is my past, and who I am today is informed by it in part at least. So read on.

It begins when the realisation does dawn
That life is more than they made you see
That it is more than they said it'd be
But by then all your confidence is gone

You fear the world you have to endure
You see black in the dawn of life
When all acts begin and end with strife
Life must be hated, you're getting sure

When the heart surges with the wildest passions
When it beats harder with emboldened bosom
When red is the only colour in your life
When you start loving life and all emotions

When the love so dear leaves without warning
When the red in your eyes is now of blood
When the heart is punctured beyond repair
When black becomes your atoning

When you want to break out free of the cage clamped shut,
And all life seems to move on without you
When you want to scream out and break free,
When you want to denounce the world that hurt

But every word, every pulse that runs in your veins
Is black, black with the thirst for revenge
The revenge that shall mend thy heart
Then you bear, wear, tear, and share black

A colour of revolt,
A colour of Renaissance,
A colour that flashes on every part
On every inch of your bare skin...

Black, the symbol of an Emo
The silent scream of a thousand burning souls
The cry for help over generation in dark
For the light of the devil...to take us all up

Yes I identify as Emo, and damn proud to do so
God refused his grace, so He shall not have mine
The Devil prepares my paradise,
And my garden of 'dead'en it is!
